His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain once again presides over the Honorary Committee of Termatalia 2026

Following the 2025 edition held in Colombia, Termatalia returns as an international trade fair and will take place in Ourense on 24 and 25 September.

His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain chairs the Honorary Committee of Termatalia 2026, which will be held as a full-scale trade fair in Ourense on 24 and 25 September.
His acceptance represents renewed institutional support for the International Thermal Tourism, Health and Wellness Fair, reinforcing its position as one of the leading international meeting points for professionals and destinations linked to thermal tourism, health, and wellness.

The Honorary Committee of Termatalia has been chaired for many years by His Majesty, first as Prince of Asturias and later as King of Spain.
The official confirmation of this acceptance was sent by the Royal Household of His Majesty the King to Manuel Pardo, President of Expourense’s Executive Committee and the Xunta de Galicia’s Territorial Delegate in Ourense.

This distinction does not imply His Majesty the King’s attendance at the trade fair, but it represents an important institutional recognition of a project that has made Ourense an international benchmark for thermal tourism and promotes cooperation among public institutions, companies, and professionals from Spain, Europe, and Latin America.

An International Meeting for the Thermal Tourism Sector

The growing importance of thermal tourism as a tourism, economic, and health-related activity makes collaboration between the public and private sectors increasingly essential.
In this context, Termatalia 2026 will once again bring together destinations, companies, professionals, and institutions linked to health and wellness tourism in Ourense, reinforcing its role as a platform for knowledge sharing, promotion, and business development opportunities.

The latest edition of Termatalia in the Americas was held in Colombia in September 2025 and was described as “spectacular the best edition ever held in the Americas, thanks to its outstanding level of participation and the remarkable commitment of the local hosts.”
This assessment is supported by participation figures and attendance at the training activities, which featured 55 experts from 13 countries, welcomed 2,000 in-person visitors, and attracted an additional 24,900 views of the live stream of the 6th International Congress on Water and Health.

The hosts of Termatalia Colombia 2025 (Fontur, Cotelco, the Government of Boyacá, and the Paipa Municipal Administration) described this edition as “a catalyst for the thermal development of the region” and expressed their satisfaction with the results achieved, thanking Termatalia for becoming an international platform for promoting Colombia’s thermal tourism, particularly that of Boyacá and Paipa.

Termatalia’s institutional significance has also been reflected in its previous international editions.

The 2023 edition in Uruguay was declared an event of National Tourism Interest by the Ministry of Tourism of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay and was inaugurated by the then President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou. It marked the first time that a head of state participated in an international edition of the trade fair promoted from Ourense.

In Brazil 2018, held in Foz do Iguaçu, Termatalia was chaired by the then Brazilian Minister of Tourism, Vinicius Lummertz. In Mexico 2016, the trade fair received official recognition from the Congress of the State of Coahuila.

Likewise, the 2014 edition in Argentina was declared an event of Tourism Interest by the Argentine Government and of Parliamentary Interest by the Chamber of Deputies of the Nation.
A year earlier, in Peru 2012, Termatalia was recognized as an International Trade Fair by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru and received the designation of “National Tourism Event” from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism.

With this track record, Termatalia enters its 2026 edition firmly established as an international platform for cooperation, knowledge exchange, and business development in thermal tourism, health, and wellness, with Ourense serving as its flagship venue and as a bridge between Europe and Latin America.
